Ink Attic Tattoo Steve
Jody “Igor” Duffy was born in Livingston, Louisianna on April 6,1970 and moved to Texas when he was 14. He can remember starting to draw for the first time at 5 years old, and remained self-taught until taking his first class at the age of 13. He received private oil painting lessons in addition to art class in High School and attended 2 years at the Art Institute of Houston. “Comic books were my main inspiration when I was a kid and my mother encouraged me to keep drawing and painting.”

The nickname explained:
“The name “Igor” was given to me by Troll, my mentor. I had a broken leg when I was apprenticing with him. I had to drag my leg around when I walked; hence the name Igor.” Igor has been tattooing professionally since 2004.

Large doses of heavy metal, cooking, painting and tattoos are some of the many things that Igor enjoys. His style is mainly a blend of new school and traditional Japanese. Though he can tattoo many other styles, Japanese is his favorite. He hopes to one day be tattooing by appointment inking everyone up with what he loves most… Japanese Art. He also hopes to be recognized by peers in the industry.

Igor says that tattooing gives him the chance to express his own artistic style and it gives the customer a piece of art that they will have for a lifetime. His favorite thing about tattooing is the colors and different techniques that u can use and get a really cool result on the skin. It’s what sets skin art apart from simply drawing on paper. The people that love tattoos do so because they love art. A tattoo is a wearable piece of art. Those that hate them are closed-minded people that hate something that they do not really understand.

Drunk and out on the town, Igor received his first tattoo at 21; a Misfits skull on his left shoulder that has since been covered up. His advice for someone that wants to get that first tat is to do a little research and make sure its something that they really want. Make sure you will still like in the years to come.

Influences and Hero?
“I would have to say my biggest influence is Horiyoshi 3, Aaron Bell, and Joe Capobianco. Their styles are all a lot different, but each has their own unique style. And my hero is Ron Jeremy!”
